Take a photo stop at the Royal Palace, the official residence of the Spanish Royal Family and a magnificent example of Baroque and Classical architecture with more than 3,000 rooms, making it one of the largest palaces in Europe. Grand rooms include the Throne Room, the Royal Chapel, and the Hall of Mirrors. The palace houses important works of art by Francisco de Goya and Diego Velazquez. After breakfast, explore Barcelona by visiting the iconic Sagrada Familia Cathedral, a massive Roman Catholic church and one of the most famous landmarks in the world. Designed by Antoni Gaudí in Gothic and Art Nouveau styles, the cathedral features intricate sculptures, colourful stained glass windows, and towering spires. Its exterior is decorated with elaborate carvings depicting scenes from the Bible and religious stories. The interior impresses with soaring columns and a nave that rises to a height of 60 meters. Climb to the top of the spires for panoramic views of the city. The church has been under continuous construction since 1882 and is Gaudí's masterpiece.
Board a cable car to reach Montjuïc Hill, offering stunning views of the city and the Mediterranean Sea. The hill is home to several attractions, including Montjuïc Castle, a historic fortress with beautiful city views and exhibitions on the history of Barcelona. Also on the hill is the Magic Fountain, a large fountain that puts on a spectacular music and light show at night. Other attractions include the National Museum of Catalan Art, the Joan Miro Foundation, the Olympic Stadium, and the Ethnological Museum. The hill is also known for its parks and gardens, including Jardins de Joan Brossa and Jardins del Mirador.
Visit Tibidabo Hill, home to several attractions including an amusement park and a church. The amusement park is one of the oldest in Europe, featuring rides and attractions such as a roller coaster, a Ferris wheel, and a haunted house, all set on the summit of Tibidabo Hill with spectacular views. Also see the Temple of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a neo-Gothic church known for its impressive architecture and stunning panoramic views. See the Olympic Stadium (Estadi Olympic Lluis Companys), named after former Catalan Government president Lluis Companys. With a seating capacity of 55,926, the stadium hosted the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the 1992 Olympics, as well as the Athletics Events and the Football competition in which Spain won the Gold Medal.
Stroll down Las Ramblas, the famous tree-lined pedestrian boulevard stretching 1.2 km from Placa de Catalunya in the north to the Christopher Columbus monument at Port Vell in the south. The statue, built for the Universal Exposition in Barcelona, depicts Columbus standing on a high pedestal with his right hand raised to the sky and his left hand holding a scroll. It is made of bronze and stands over 50 metres tall including the pedestal. You can take an elevator to the top of the pedestal for panoramic views of Barcelona's harbour. In the evening, enjoy a Flamenco Show offering an authentic taste of this traditional Spanish dance, known for its powerful footwork, expressive hand movements, and soulful singing, featuring live music and traditional tapas.
