Bairro Alto is known for its nightlife with numerous bars and live music venues. Chiado is chic district with elegant shops, theatres and cafes. Lisbon is home to numerous landmarks and attractions including 25 de Abril Bridge iconic suspension bridge that spans Tagus River, connecting city of Lisbon to municipality of Almada. The bridge is often compared to Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco due to its similar appearance. It was initially named Salazar Bridge. After Carnation Revolution bridge's name was changed to commemorate date of revolution. Jerónimos Monastery officially known as Santa Maria de Belém Monastery is magnificent example of Manueline architecture. It was constructed in 16th century and served as religious complex for Monks of Order of Saint Jerome. The monastery is renowned for its intricate stonework, cloisters and tomb of explorer Vasco da Gama Belém Tower also known as Tower of St. Vincent, is a fortified tower was built as a defensive structure and symbol of Portugal's maritime power. The tower features unique blend of architectural styles including Manueline and Moorish influences. Like Jerónimos Monastery, it is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Coach Museum officially known as National Coach Museum is home to one of world's most significant collections of historical carriages and coaches. It is housed in former Royal Riding School in Belém. The museum displays diverse array of beautifully crafted coaches, carriages and other royal vehicles dating back to 16th century. Monument of the Discoveries or Padrão dos Descobrimentos, is a striking monument which commemorates Portugal's Age of Discoveries and pays tribute to explorers and navigators who played significant roles.
